Here is an updated list of road closures throughout the City. If you have any questions about the closures, shoot us an e-mail us here.

  • Drivers should expect delays on Johnson Drive between Flint and Goddard Streets starting on Monday, June 20. Crews will be working to mill and overlay that stretch of Johnson Drive and will then restripe it back to its original layout of four to five lanes instead of the current three lanes. This three lane pilot project launched last November. After considering feedback from residents and research from staff, the City Council voted to return Johnson Drive to the original four and five lane layout. We expect the work to last through Friday, July 1, pending no weather delays. Drivers will be able to get through the entire time, but there will be lane closures.
  • Monticello Road will be closed from Monticello Springs Park to 75th Street starting Monday, June 13. That stretch will be shut down for nearly two months but will open up before school starts in late August.
  • The detour for southbound traffic will be west on 75th Street to north on K-7. Traffic will use the K-7 and Shawnee Mission Parkway Intersection to turn around and go southbound on K-7. Then traffic will exit at 83rd Street and turn eastbound to arrive at Monticello Road.
  • The detour for northbound traffic will be west on 83rd Street to north on K-7. Traffic will then exit eastbound onto 75th Street to arrive at Monticello Road.
  • Goddard Street will be closed to through traffic between West 57th Terrace and West 56th Street starting on Monday, May 16 until approximately July 5. This is part of the Goddard Reconstruction Project. You can read more about it here
  • A Kansas Department of Transportation project will impact Shawnee drivers starting March 17. Crews will be working to remove and replace the Renner bridge that goes over 435. Here is what you need to know so you can make a plan to get around the work while it’s happening.
  • Renner Road at the bridge over I-435 will be closed for approximately six months starting Thursday, March 17.  The official detour will use Midland Drive, Lackman Road and 79th Street.  Local traffic will still be able to access adjacent streets coming from the north and the Park Lanes Family Fun Center coming from the south.
  • Monticello Road is back open as of November, but please keep an eye out for crews in the area still finishing up work on and alongside the road. If you'd like to read more about the project, including the upcoming Phase 2, click here
